Psoriasis is a common skin disease resulting in patches of raised red skin covered by slivery white scales that can develop almost anywhere on the body. The condition is casued by skin cells that divide too rapidly (up to 1000 times faster than normal skin cells) and these accumulate instead of shedding.

Science has not yet discovered exactly what causes psoriasis, though it has been associated with allergies and various dietary & metabolic factors.

In my Clinic, I have experienced many cases of psoriasis. The 2 most common factors have been: trauma to the effected area; whether it be from an injury or from emotional trauma just prior to an ‘outbreak’, or food allergies: in particular, to yeast containing foods.

Another factor very important to contributing to psoriasis is candida infections. Many people have an increased incidence of gut borne candida (this accounts for their intolerance to yeast and the resulting craving for yeast containing foods such as breads, cakes, biscuits etc).

Stress and tension greatly aggravate the condition. Regular exercise and relaxation are a must in treating psoriasis. My treatment program consists of internal and external treatments.
