Saw Palmetto is a shrubby palm that can be found in sandy soils throughout the southeastern United States and part of the Mediterranean . It has dark, olive-shaped fruit, or berries, that are picked when ripe, partially dried and used medicinally. There are a number of sources that have contributed to the names of this herb. The shape of the Dandelion leaves were thought to be shaped like lion’s teeth and so it was called ‘dent de lion’ by the French, which later became know as ‘dandelion’. Dong Quai has been used extensively for hundreds of years in Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine for the female reproductive system.
