The Incan Goldenberry (physalis peruviana) is native to South America, but cultivated and known more commonly as Cape Gooseberries. Fresh berries are bright yellow and very sweet when ripe.

Goldenberries have a delicious tangy flavour and are a source of Vitamins A, C, B1, B2, B6, B12, fibre, phosphorus, calcium, cleansing pectin and interestingly for a fruit – they have a high protein content. They are a great source of bioflavonoids (Vitamin P) – considered to have anti inflammatory, antioxidant and anti viral effects.
